Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on their farm in Eufala. In football, he was with his three brothers in Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as Oklahoma's main man. In 1975, he was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young people in America. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Florida's sports department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
